Ruth’s French Bread

Mike’s Mom used to make these loaves. The recipe in her writing was extremely minimal, so I’d love someone to make them and let us know how to make them clearer. And, please send us a photo of the dough and the bread and you enjoying it!!

3.5 C. Flour

2 tsp. salt

1.5 C. water

1/3 C. water with 1 pkg. yeast

Mix all ingredients.

Raise once

Make loaves

Raise again

Cook about 370 degrees for 40 -50 minutes

Place pan of water in oven for first 15 minutes.

About 10 minutes before done put milk on loaves. Optional

Use same dough to make rolls. Try some Jewish salt (?) and caraway seeds.
